AAPI Voices and Stories Program funded by the Mellon Foundation
Supports community-based digital storytelling projects through academic-community partnerships near member campuses to create digital archives and address community needs. Also provides training in oral history techniques and technology and curates curricular materials for the undergraduate setting and beyond.
Enhancing Asian Studies: Asia in the Undergraduate Curriculum funded by the Luce Foundation
Leverages the expertise and experience of ASIANetwork members to create a digital resource guide to assist undergraduate and liberal arts colleges in the teaching about Asia. (currently led by ASIANetwork’s Digital Resources Editors)
ASIANetwork Institutes funded by the Luce Foundation
Generate and publish new programmatic, curricular, and pedagogical materials for teaching about Asia and Asian diasporas in the undergraduate liberal arts. Also convene experienced educators to forge new models and paradigms for improving global Asian studies education, and enhances the expertise and skill sets of educators.
ASIANetwork Speakers Bureau
Provides grants to institutions to bring an ASIANetwork speaker to their campus. The program provides up to five awards each year.
ASIANetwork Embodied Learning about Asia Program funded by a private donor
Focuses on Asian pedagogy that embraces the ways knowledge is gained through actual practice and performance, creating opportunities for students to learn about Asia through immersive involvement and embodied participation.
Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow Program funded by the Luce Foundation
Provides member institutions the opportunity to apply for grant to hire a postdoctoral teaching fellow in Asian Studies for one or two years. (No longer accepting applications.)
Student Language Scholarship Program funded by the Luce Foundation
Subsidizes the cost of learning an Asian language through off-campus coursework.
Student Video Challenge
Multimedia collaboration between Asian and U.S. undergraduates, or multimedia research presentation by undergraduates.
Marianna McJimsey Student Paper Competition
The annual prize recognizes the best undergraduate student paper dealing with Asia. Undergraduate students, currently or recently enrolled in ASIANetwork member schools, are eligible to submit their papers for consideration.
Asian Studies Consultant Program
Serves ASIANetwork member institutions seeking advice on ways to strengthen the study of Asia on their campuses or seeking consultants to conduct program assessment or review.
Teddy Amoloza Conference Travel Award
Provides travel grants of $1,000 for junior faculty members and undergraduate students who are presenting papers at the ASIANetwork Annual Meeting.
Asia through the Arts
ASIANetwork sponsors various projects to assist faculty members in using images and artifacts to teach about Asia across the curriculum.
