LANSI 2026 Pre-Institute Questionnaire (Course Module Workshop Preparation)

This submission portal is for participants in the LANSI 2026: Teaching Global Asia/s and Asian Languages Futures

Name(Required)

Preparation for the Course Module Workshop

Please think of a course you have taught, at least once, that includes topics/themes related to Asia, Asian Americans/AAPI, and/or Asian diasporas. One aspect of this Institute is workshopping one of your course modules to address the themes of Asian Languages Futures and/or Teaching Global Asia/s.

A module could comprise 6-10 hours of class time in one course on a subject or a theme (no more than 20% of the course). If your modules are shorter than this guideline, provide more than one module to work on at the Institute.

If you exclusively teach language, your course might not be as easily divisible into modules in the sense described above. If this applies to your teaching, please address a cultural component that you include as a unit in your courses and/or address across the semester/academic term.

In May, you will be required to submit a set of five slides that summarize your module, specifically explaining the module, your pedagogical approach, your student learning goals, how the module fits into the course, and what additional knowledge/skills/attitudes are gained by students. Please be prepared to present those slides during the Institute.

Please address the following. You may wish to copy-and-paste into the box.

1. Briefly describe the module you plan to workshop at the Institute.
2. How does this lesson/series of lessons fit within the context of the course?
3. What are your goals/desired outcomes?
4. Why are you submitting this?
Please upload a "short-form" version of your syllabus for this course. Provide the course description, list of assignments, schedule of topics, and references to readings, but NOT the actual readings. Please OMIT the institutional boilerplate (grading, administrative policies and office hours, etc.).
Max. file size: 150 MB.

"Conversation Starter" Questions
