AAPI Voices and Stories: Activities, Sites, Responsibilities, and Support

Site Liaison:

  • Collaborate with community members, mentor students, and prepare digital products, reports, teaching materials (summer portion: seven week team collaboration)
  • $5,000 stipend
  • $1000 for local transportation needs
  • Travel funds (airfare, lodging, conference registration) to culminating workshop at the spring ASIANetwork conference after site work
  • Host college to provide travel funds and registration to attend training workshop at the spring ASIANetwork conference before site work
  • Access to a digital technology kit and training
  • MOU with Community Partner & ASIANetwork

Students:

  • Four students recruited by Site Liaison (from home institution) to train and carry out project
  • Each receive $3500 stipend

Host College:

  • Provides travel funds and registration for Site Liaison to attend spring ASIANetwork conference before site work
  • Provides summer room and board for students at no or nominal cost (at least seven weeks)*
  • Provides work and meeting space as needed
  • Disburses ASIANetwork funds without overhead
  • Waives liability of ASIANetwork
  • (Prospective Site Liaisons: The above commitments do not need to be in place at the time of application.)

Community Partners:

  • MOU with Site Liaison & ASIANetwork
  • One community partner is invited to attend (airfare, lodging, registration provided) workshop before site work
  • Receive $5000
  • Financial support for own website or digital repository (if desired)
  • The program envisions in-person rather than virtual/remote engagement during the summer

Faculty Associate:

  • Collaborate with Site Liaison and students, community members. Prepare digital products, reports, teaching materials. 
  • From a different institution than the Site Liaison 
  • $5,000 stipend
  • Travel funds and lodging for 7 weeks of site work ($700 travel allowance and $3500 housing allowance)
  • Travel funds (airfare, lodging, conference registration) provided to culminating workshop at spring ASIANetwork conference after site work
  • Home college to provide travel funds and registration to attend training workshop at spring ASIANetwork conference before site work
  • (Faculty Associates apply separately from Site Liaisons, after the selection of Site Liaisons.)

*Summer housing as needed, e.g. for those students who do not reside locally. ASIANetwork funds are available to support student room and board (or hotel) if the institution is unable to provide. Each college has different means and resources.
